To keep a quarry stone cutting machine safely working, the following measures should be taken:
Pre-Operation
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Operators must wear appropriate PPE, such as safety goggles to protect eyes from flying debris, gloves to prevent cuts and abrasions when handling stones, and a dust mask or respirator to avoid inhaling harmful dust. Long hair should be tied back or covered to prevent it from getting caught in the machine.
Machine Inspection: Before starting the machine, check for loose bolts and nuts, ensure the saw blade is tightly secured and correctly aligned with the protective cover, and verify that there are no leaks in the power supply or wiring. The operating table should be stable, and there should be sufficient lighting for night operations.
Test Run: Conduct a no-load test run to ensure the machine operates smoothly and safely before actual cutting begins.
During Operation
Proper Operation Techniques: Do not attempt to cut small workpieces that are not securely clamped. Allow the motor to reach full speed before starting the cutting process. Keep the machine's advance level, maintain a straight and smooth cutting edge, and ensure a uniform forward speed. Never cut vertically or in curves; only horizontal straight cuts are allowed.
Safety Guarding: Ensure that all safety guards are in place and functioning properly. Never operate the machine without the protective cover in place, and keep hands at least 15 cm away from the saw blade.
Work Area Management: Keep the work area clean and free from clutter to prevent slips and falls. Avoid wearing loose clothing or jewelry that could get caught in the machine.
Monitoring and Maintenance: Regularly inspect the machine for any signs of wear or malfunction. If any abnormal sounds or vibrations are detected, stop the machine immediately for inspection. Perform regular maintenance, such as cleaning the walking axle, main bearing parts, and bearing parts of the manual feeding device under the workbench, and adding lubricant as needed.
Post-Operation
Power Off: Turn off the main power supply after completing the work.
Clean Up: Clean and tidy the worktable and site to maintain a safe and organized workspace.
Training and Emergency Preparedness
Operator Training: Ensure that operators receive proper training on the machine's operation, maintenance, and safety procedures. They should be familiar with the machine's specific hazards and the purpose and proper use of safety devices.
Emergency Procedures: Familiarize all workers with emergency procedures, including the location of first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and emergency exits. Conduct regular emergency drills to ensure everyone knows their role and can respond promptly.
